STAFF PICKS - BEN'S FAVORITE THINGS
TO DO IN VEGAS FOR FREE!!!
There are so many great
shows in Las Vegas! Every week it seems like there's a
new 'Cirque' show popping up on the strip. Many of
these shows cost over $100 to see, however, there are a few
hidden gems which cost nothing to see. Here's a list
of a few that you should check out if you have some time!
5.
Masquerade Show in The Sky - Rio Hotel & Casino.
The Masquerade Show in the Sky is held Daily at 3pm, 4pm,
5pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm, 9:30pm in the Masquerade
Village. This show gives you the experience and
excitement of Brazil's Carnivale. The Show in the Sky
features state-of-the-art floats that suspend from the
ceiling and parade above the casino floor. The show
evokes the electrifying and colorful atmosphere of Carnivale
as performers clad in exotic masks and brilliant costumes
entertain with exciting music and dance! You can even
get in the show if you call ahead of time. Grab some
beads and a drink and head out to see the show!
4.
The Garden - Bellagio Hotel & Casino. Just beyond
Bellagio's gracious lobby lies the Conservatory & Botanical
Gardens, a kaleidoscope for your senses. You'll want to take
a moment to appreciate the intricate detail blooming before
your very eyes. Submerge your soul in this magnificent
garden abounding in fragrance, texture and color. Row upon
row of exotic plants and flowers weave a glorious tapestry
displaying the unique highlights of every season and
holiday. There's no more inviting location for a photo
opportunity. Take advantage of this unique setting and
create a moment to cherish for years to come.
Bellagio’s
Conservatory is transformed five times a year – winter,
spring, summer, fall and Chinese New Year – with exquisite
floral displays, cascading fountains and theatrical affects.
3. "Lake of Dreams" - Wynn Hotel & Casino.
The "Lake of Dreams" show is produced with thousands of lights that turned the
water into a swirl of colors and bathed the pine trees in blues and greens.
The main attraction is a large, curtain waterfall behind a
mountain that faces the strip. The waterfall falls
into a 3 acre (12,000 m2) lake. Both the waterfall and
lake have images displayed on them. The show starts on
the hour beginning in the afternoon.
The show can be viewed from the Parasol Up
(a bar and viewing area), and can be seen
through a glass window with no audio. Or,
the show can be viewed from down-parsel,
with a larger view. Visitors can go to the
platform at the Parasol Down bar to view the
show with full-blast audio. Diners can also
chose some restaurants around the resort to
get a full view of the show while dining.
Get there early and grab a drink so you can
watch it a few times . . . there are a few
different shows.
2.
Fremont Street Experience - Fremont Street. With
its $70 million light canopy, $17 million in upgrades and
550,000-watt sound system, the Fremont Street Experience is
sure to mesmerize. Positioned 90 feet above Fremont
Street, the attraction stretches 1,400 feet and consists of
12.5 million synchronized LED modules, including 180 strobes
and eight robotic mirrors per block. It's capable of
producing millions of color combinations, animations and
video feeds, allowing the display to switch from a swirling
ocean setting to a television broadcast in minutes.
Ranging from six to nine
minutes, shows at the Fremont Street Experience include
"Lucky Vegas," which celebrates the classic icons of Sin
City, and the exciting "Speed, Smoke and Spinning Wheels,"
which transports guests into the world of fast-paced auto
racing. Also part of the lineup are "Area 51," in which
earthlings go head-to-head with a fleet of aliens, "American
Freedom," a patriotic tribute to the United States, and "The
Drop," a psychedelic adventure kicked off by a single drop
of water.
If standing among the crowds
isn't your style, stop at Krispy Kreme, grab a doughnut and
enjoy the Fremont Street Experience from the comfort of an
outdoor patio.
1.
Bellagio Water Show - Bellagio Hotel & Casino.
This is my favorite free show in Vegas to see (as I'm sure
many residents would agree). Bellagio's world-famous

whimsical music while flirting with your playful nature
through their carefully choreographed movements. You'll be
swept away by this breathtaking union of water, music and
light. The Show times are: Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. -
8:00 p.m., show every 1/2 hour; 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., show
